Reconcile the People

The ministry of reconciliation is rooted in God´s Personality

In 2001, God spoke to Jan-Aage Torp about building an apostolic center in Oslo of 100 nationalities. Not a traditional church, but an apostolic center consisting of many congregations that unite to do good in Oslo, and to restore the city to its God-intended foundations.

But one message stood out in God´s word to Jan-Aage: Reconcile the ethnic groups of our city!

The ministry of reconciliation is not something new. It is rooted in God´s Personality. God´s Son, Jesus Christ, came to reconcile us with the Father, but also to give us the message and ministry of reconciliation. Read 2Corinthians 5:17-21:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

A Christian and a church do not need to receive a special calling to be a reconciler, because this ministry is for all Christians! We are simply forbidden from living in hatred, bitterness, scepticism and unhealthy competition!

All races and people groups need each other. Oslo is blessed to have become the cosmopolitan capital of Northern Europe, and it is today the fastest growing capital city of our continent.

What an opportunity for ethnic Norwegians, Scandinavians, Europeans, Africans, Asians, Latinos and Americans to learn to live together, to love and serve each other, and to show the way of blessing instead of curse.

As an apostolic center, we are called to reconcile the people of our city. Together, we have a ministry of reconcliation!
