It is sad to say goodbye to King Harald V, who served his country throughout his life, and as the people's king for the past 35 years. Oslochurch received the news of his death with sadness, and we extend our condolences to his extraordinary wife, Queen Sonja, and his son and heir King Haakon VIII and daughter Princess Märtha Louise, and their families. Oslochurch, represented by our pastor's family, participated in the sea of flowers and people at Slottsplassen with flowers and cards of condolence.
King Harald V turned 89, and was in many ways a unifying figure for our nation. Not least, it made an impression that in 2004 he said in a New Year's interview: «I look forward to the return of Jesus Christ!» And that in 2008 he gave a clear message to the Minister of Church Affairs that a revised constitution should contain a Christian confession obligation for future monarchs. This testified to a king who does not get involved in

the superficial currents of the day, but who upholds the principles that have built the Kingdom of Norway.
