Authority belongs to the Church

Jan-Aage Torp

IAs a local church, Oslochurch is called to exert authority and influence in line with the mandate of Christ:

«Jesus came and said to them, ´All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age´» (Matthew 28:18-20).

Although the collective testimony of the Bible is overwhelming about the authority of the Church, this message is grossly neglected in modern Europe with individualism, self-centeredness, and emotionalism as preferred choices.

Historically, authority has been a distinguishing mark of the Church. It is evident in the enormous influence of the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches of European nations, such as Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Serbia, Romania & more.

The modern evangelical-protestant-charismatic churches in European nations are not reckoned with by political leaders. Actually, they are reduced to being only ceremony makers.

Mandate

But Oslokirken-Oslochurch takes our mandate seriously. We believe that authority belongs to the Church!

When we established our church-hub smack in the middle of Oslo, 200 meters from Parliament, the Supreme Court etc, it was with the clear intent to make our voice heard, to be accessible, and to make a strong statement in the spiritual realm.

Through the ministries that I serve - European Apostiolic Leaders and Kristen Koalisjon Norge - Aina & I lead a small church that has surprising influence in the national and European processes and decisions.

Whenever someone with gigantic attacks from the powers of society approach us respectfully for help in the battle against gross systems of oppression and injustice, we can visibly see that our authority in Christ prevails.

But just being a «member» of Oslochurch is no guarantee in itself. You must respect and acknowledge the gifts that Christ has given to the Church.  The Bible declares time and again that all we do must be «by faith!»

Teaching and demonstrating to members and partners how to live, rule and reign by the authority in Christ, is a core assignment of Oslochuch.
