Stand up for Refugees - in Europe and BeyondSome of the refugees that we have received

The Ukraine Refugee Crisis is putting demands on humanity, religions, and the Christian Church that surpasses what Europe has experienced since World War II.

In just two weeks, 2 1/2 million Ukrainians have fled to Western Europe, especially via Poland and Moldova.

It was impacting to hear my friend Jerzy Kwasniewski tell me yesterday how Polish homes have opened up for more than 1 million Ukrainian refugees.

«We don´t put them in refugee centers, but in our own homes», said Jerzy who is the President of Ordo Iuris Legal Institute in Warsaw.

The Pentecostals in the Republic of Moldova are also opening their homes and church facilities to Ukrainian refugees, assisted by more than 1 million euros that have been raised by the wonderful initiative of TV Visjon Norge´s President, Jan Hanvold.

Mandate

You don´t need to be a Christian or religious to feel the call to action when people are in need. This is not about who we support in a war, but about helping the people who are the victims of war.

The Biblical mandate for receiving refugees is strong and clear:

«For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me» (Matthew 25:35).

By Example

I believe in leading by example.

Through the past 25 years we have received countless refugees in our home and church. From Nepal, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Togo, Congo Kinshasa, Burundi, Bosnia Hercegovina, Chile & more.

We never ask questions. For us, it is never an issue about their documents. They are in desperate need - that is what counts!

I have been to countless immigration courts, hospitals, and refugee camps to pick up refugees, to counsel, to bring supplies. It is all worth it!

Open up your life

Please open up your life, home and church to the Ukrainian  refugees in this time of need. Just stand up for them. Don't ask about their religion or political affiliation. Don´t check their skin color. Just help!

Remember Jesus´ word:

«For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me» (Matthew 25:35).
