FAT

Many people are faithful except when they are needed, available except when they choose something else, and teachable except when they need to learn something. Jesus didn´t fool around with His disciples. He was forgiving and merciful, but he required faithfulness, availability, and teachability. Jesus did not call us to just «preach the Gospel», but «to MAKE DISCIPLES».

FAT

30+ years ago I received the teaching on being a FAT Christian through Campus Crusade for Christ.

FAT is an acronym, meaning Faithful, Available, Teachable.

If you want Godly results in your church and ministry, you should focus your attention on people who display these qualities.

Many people are faithful except when they are needed, available except when they choose something else, and teachable except when they need to learn something.

Jesus didn´t fool around with His disciples. He was forgiving and merciful, but he required faithfulness, availability, and teachability (Matthew 11:28-29).

Apostle Paul admonished Timothy, «The things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also» (2Timothy 2:2).

There are two exceptions to the FAT principle, though: We must always give much space for growth and development in new Christians who you personally, or your church, has led to the Lord. Development takes time. And you must obey the leading of the Holy Spirit when He tells you to disciple somebody who has failed repeatedly in their faithfulness, availability and teachability. God´s Spirit is in control!

Jesus never gave His Church the ultimate commission TO PREACH the Gospel. Preaching is necessary and wonderful. However, the Great Commission of Jesus to His Church is TO MAKE DISCIPLES of every people group (Matthew 28:18-20).

Now it´s starting to get fun!
